I am Vanessa Lee Rubin, Certified High Performance Coach™.
I work with those who identify as womxn, BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color), LGBTQIA, and people with disabilities to change systems--internal systems like our negative self-talk and limiting beliefs; external systems where you are the only one at the table or not represented at all.
One Latino client told me that once when he was gardening in his front yard, a neighbor walking his dog asked him how much he charged for landscaping. How many times have you been made to feel like you don’t belong? Even when the space is yours?
Other people’s entitlement to our space, our time, our bodies steals our energy and drains our potential. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are more than 7.6 billion people in the world, almost half (49.6%) are women. If we could take back one minute just once for each woman and girl, that would be 3.8 billion minutes or more than 7,200 years!
This number doesn’t even include men with disabilities or who identify as BIPoC or LGBTQIA. Think about it, we collectively lose more than 100 lifetimes every single day. When systems aren’t made for you or with you in mind, we all suffer.
Imagine what we could do if we stopped the theft of our space, time, and bodies. Take a moment to think about who you would be, what you would be doing. Imagine feeling seen, heard, and safe to be authentic. Would you start a business? Get into politics? Reconcile a relationship? Get a divorce? Come out of the closet? Write a book? Cure cancer?
